We're Building For A Housing Revolution - Join Us In Donaghmede

The first UP Housing public meeting on Dublin’s north-side will take place at 8pm on Thursday, February 27th in The Donaghmede Inn. Like the rest of Dublin, the cost of housing in Donaghmede, Bayside, Edenmore, Coolock, Clarehall and the surrounding areas has risen beyond the point of affordability in recent years.

Speaking in advance of the meeting Éirígí activist Jenny White said, “The housing scandal has his hit our communities very hard. Hundreds of local people, from babies to those of retirement age, are living in hostels, B&Bs, hotels and other forms of emergency accommodation.

Thousands more are living in overcrowded, substandard and otherwise unsuitable housing. My own generation has been particularly hard hit by the extortionate cost of private rent and house prices. Huge numbers of people in their 20s, 30s and even older have either never moved out of their parent’s home or have returned to them after being forced out of the private rental sector.

Éirígí activist Jenny White is part of a generation of citizens who have being denied their right to housing by the political establishment.

UP Housing would provide solutions to every problem that the current chaotic approach to housing has created. It is the only system that can end the current housing scandal and deliver permanent housing justice for all into the future.

I’d encourage anyone that affected by any aspect of the housing scandal, or cares about those that are, to come along to the meeting on February 27th to hear our ideas and to ask questions. And if they like what they hear, it would be great if they’d get involved in the campaign to make UP Housing a reality.”

The Donaghmede UP Housing meeting will begin at 8pm on Thursday, February 27th and last for about one hour. It’s free of charge and open to all. So please spread the word and come along. Bígí linn.
