Éirígí For A New Republic will hold its annual Ard Fheis on March 14th in The Teachers Club in Dublin city centre. The theme of Ard Fheis 2020 will be ‘Towards The New Republic’ - a theme which will be reflected throughout the day long event.

Speaking about Ard Fheis 2020, Cathaoirleach Éirígí, Brian Leeson said, “The past year has seen the issue of Irish reunification being discussed in an unprecedented way. A range of factors, including shifting demographics, the Scottish independence movement, Brexit and the demise of Organgism as a political and economic force are creating the conditions where Irish reunification is now more likely than at any point since partition.

The demand for Irish reunification is to only going to grow stronger and stronger over the coming years. The forces of conservatism in England and on both sides of the British border in Ireland will not be able to hold back the march of the Irish nation indefinitely.

Now is the time to start a national conversation about how the process of reunification will take place and what sort of unified state will replace the two existing states.

Ard Fheis 2020 is going to map out Éirígí’s vision for a new all-Ireland republic that will deliver on the vision of the 1916 Proclamation and the 1919 Democratic Programe - a New Irish Republic based on the republican pillars of democracy, equality, justice, secularism and community - a New Irish Republic that will deliver high-quality sustainable employment, housing, healthcare, security and education for all.

The transition from the chaos, exploitation and inequality of the two existing states to a New Republic is not going to happen without detailed planning and the building a mass movement that reaches into every village, town and city in the country.

Ard Fheis 2020 will mark the start of a new Éirígí campaign to build mass support for the establishment of a New Irish Republic that is truly worthy of the name.”
