Ard Fheis Éirígí 2022 To Take Place On February 26th
Éirígí For A New Republic today announced that Ard Fheis Éirígí 2022 will take place in The Teachers Club, Dublin on Saturday, February 26th. Speaking in relation to Ard Fheis 2022, Éirígí General Secretary Mickey Moran said,
“Our last in-person Ard Fheis was a highly successful meeting in the Communications Workers Union headquarters in January 2019. Our 2020 Ard Fheis was postponed and the 2021 one was an online event.
So we are delighted to publicly confirm today that Ard Fheis 2022 will be an in-person, one-day event on Saturday, February 26th in The Teachers Club in Dublin City Centre.
The theme of Ard Fheis 2022 is ‘We Only Want The Earth’ as the political content of the meeting will largely focus on the inter-related issues Ireland’s natural resources, climate change, energy, environmental sustainability and the global crisis of capitalism. In line with these themes we have invited two guest speakers to address Ard Fheis 2022.
The first is John Smith, author of the highly acclaimed “Imperialism in the Twenty-First Century: Globalization, Super-Exploitation, and Capitalism’s Final Crisis” and “The GDP Illusion”.
We were very pleased that John agreed to fly into Dublin to speak at the Ard Fheis and expect that his contribution will set the global context for many of the issues and challenges that we are facing here in Ireland today.
Our second guest speaker is Sarah Cullen of the pro-nuclear power ‘18for0’ campaign. While Éirígí already has a clear policy position in relation to fossil fuels and renewables, we have yet to adopt a position in relation to what role, if any, nuclear power might play in Ireland.
Sarah’s presentation on behalf of 18for0 will, therefore, provide a timely input into the democratic process of the party adopting a position in relation to nuclear power.
In addition to the panel discussion with our guest speakers, Ard Fheis 2022 will also include the delivery of organisational reports, policy discussions and motions, and the election of members of An Ciorcal Náisiúnta.
As has been the case for many years, Ard Fheis 2022 will be divided into a private morning session for party members and a public afternoon session where party supporters will join us for the contributions of our guest speakers and the incoming Cathaorileach Éirígí.
People who are interested in attending the public afternoon session of Ard Fheis 2022 should email info@eirigi.org and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.”
