Athlone and Donaghmede UP Housing Meetings Announced

Details of another two UP Housing public meetings have been announced. The first meeting will take place on February 25th in the Athlone Institute of Technology. And the second meeting will take two days later, on February 27th, in the Donaghmede Inn on Dublin’s northside.

Cathaoirleach Éirígí, Brian Leeson will deliver a detailed UP Housing presentation at both venues. Speaking in relation to the meetings he said,

“Public meetings are a really important way for us to get the message out about UP Housing. Unlike the bigger political parties we don’t get don’t receive millions of euros in state funding or guaranteed airtime in the media.

In the run up to Christmas we had two very successful UP Housing meetings in south Dublin and Wexford which gave people an opportunity to tell their own housing stories and to ask questions about our housing ideas.

So I’m delighted that we’ve two more meetings organised in two new areas. I’m particularly looking forward to the Athlone meeting as it’ll give me an opportunity to engage with students who are facing into a long-term future of housing exploitation and housing uncertainty.

UP Housing wouldn’t just temporarily solve the current housing crisis. It would deliver permanent housing justice in a way that would also transform our political system and society.

I’d strongly encourage anyone who is interested in the housing issue to come along to either of the meetings to hear our ideas about housing. And if you like what you hear to get involved in the campaign for UP Housing.”

The Athlone meeting will take place at 3pm on Tuesday, February 25th in Room E3 205 in the Institute of Technology.

The Donaghmede meeting will take place at 8pm on Thursday, February 27th in the Donaghmede Inn in the Donaghmede Shopping Centre, Grange Road, Dublin 13.

Both meetings are expected to last about one hour, are free of charge and open to all. Bígí linn.
