Defend Irish Neutrality!
On Thursday the 13th of June, Éirígí activists and supporters gathered outside Leinster House at an emergency protest called in response to reports that the Dublin government plan to join an EU military initiative focussed on surveillance and reconnaissance operations at sea.
The political establishment are intent on KILLING NEUTRALITY through the death of a thousand cuts, with this plan just being the latest one.
Speaking from outside Leinster House, Cathaoirleach Éirígí Brian Leeson said,
We have organised this protest this evening in response to the news, which broke earlier this week, that the Dublin government intend to join an EU military initiative to protect seabed infrastructure off the Irish coast. This is the latest step that the government has taken to try and draw this state a military alliance - either an EU military alliance, or a NATO military alliance.
Brian continued,
The Dublin government know full-well that the Irish people support neutrality! They known that if they went to the people and ask the people do they want to abandon neutrality, they know they would lose that referendum. So instead of going the democratic route and asking the people whether they want to retain neutrality or not, they’ve decided to try and kill neutrality through the death of a thousand cuts.
Brian finished by calling the people of Ireland to action,
We understand what the government are at, and we understand that the fight for Irish neutrality cannot wait 2 or 3 or 4 years down the road. We need to stop that process now! If you believe neutrality matters and you want to defend neutrality I would strongly encourage you to get involved, join Éirígí and fight to defend Ireland’s neutrality!
