Éirígí Gaillimh Activists Promote UP Housing Campaign In The City Of Tribes

Éirígí Gaillimh activists have been busy over the last few weeks promoting our UP Housing campaign in the City of the Tribes.

They unfurled a new UP Housing banner at the Wolfe Tone Bridge in the city, and held an information stall on the same day, gathering signatures for an online petition which you can sign here. The petition is calling on Galway City Council and the Land Development Agency to use Galway’s public land to deliver desperately needed public housing.

Our activists also distributed UP Housing leaflets in the city, along with a newly produced set of campaign stickers being erected all over Galway. All of these actions are part of a wider strategy of building awareness of, and support for, our Universal Public Housing campaign.

Galway City, like the rest of Ireland, is suffering the worst housing crisis in the history of this state - a crisis caused by the political establishment and their fanatical belief in the private sector and profit-driven economics.

UP Housing is the ONLY alternative to this madness - it is the ONLY way to end the housing crisis forever. UP Housing would end the stranglehold that landlords, land speculators, dodgy developers, bankers, estate agents, and other property profiteers have on Irish housing.

UP Housing would allow for long-term security of tenure, and would be genuinely affordable - as rent would be linked to household income. UP Housing would radically transform Irish society for the better!
