US Propaganda Dealt A Blow
In stark similarity to the Hans Blix analysis of the Iraqi ‘weapons of mass destruction’ lie, Mohamed El Baradei has confirmed that Iran has no nuclear weapons capability, nor is there evidence that they were pursuing such developments.
His latest report makes a mockery of the assertion by the imperialists in the North American Bush administration who would use the ‘nuclear weapons’ smoke screen as a pretext for another war.
Mohamed El Baradei is an Egyptian diplomat and the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, an inter-governmental organisation which operates under the remit of the United Nations.
The head of the UN nuclear watchdog said he had no evidence Iran was working actively to build nuclear weapons and expressed deep concern that escalating rhetoric from the USA could instigate a human disaster for the people of Iran.
Hans Blix was the head of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission from January 2000 to June 2003. In 2002, the commission began searching Iraq for 'weapons of mass destruction', ultimately finding none. Blix expressed similar concerns before the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq, which has led to the slaughter of approximately one million Iraqis and the displacement of millions more, irreversibly damaging one of the oldest civilisations on the planet.
Millions of people around the world knew in 2002 that the Anglo–American ‘axis of imperialism’ had, as its goal, the completion of a long-term strategy of expropriation of Middle Eastern territories and resources.
The most accelerated example of imperialist policy in the Middle East is the Israeli regime, which has broken more UN sanctions than any other country on earth, yet receives more in foreign aid every year from North American tax payers than every other state combined, is the fifth largest nuclear power in the world, and maintains an air force second only to the greatest military power in existence - the USA.
It beggars belief that Blix and El Baradei, the foremost authorities on their subject matter, can provide these analyses at the request of the UN only to be ignored by the global hyper power and its allies.
Commenting on his report into the Iranian nuclear capability, El Baradei was as concise and to the point as one can be, "Have we seen Iran having the nuclear material that can readily be used into a weapon? No.
“Have we seen an active weaponisation program? No…"
Commenting on the continued aggression by the North American regime and threats of ‘serious consequences’ by US vice president Dick Cheney, El Baradei said;
"I'm very much concerned about confrontation, building confrontation, because that would lead absolutely to a disaster. I see no military solution. The only durable solution is through negotiation…”
"My fear is that if we continue to escalate from both sides that we will end up into a precipice, we will end up into an abyss. As I said, the Middle East is in a total mess, to say the least. And we cannot add fuel to the fire."
Éirígí chairperson Brian Leeson stressed the importance of local action to prevent another massacre and conveyed his disgust at the posturing of the USA.
“It is not an overstatement to say that the world is faced by the serious possibility of global disaster if the reigns of power remain in the hands of those who would use it for personal profit. Anyone who hopes for a decent future for themselves and their children should continue to oppose the war in Iraq and, through every means that are practicable, try to prevent the invasion of Iran.
“The consequences of such an act would be akin to a massive humanitarian disaster and it is starkly obvious that the UN is powerless to stop the brutal march of Anglo-Americanism through the Middle East.
“In Ireland, it is only through popular expressions of disgust that we can join the effort to avert global catastrophe at the hands of fundamentalist madmen and profit hungry businessmen. It is incumbent upon the people of Ireland to add their voice to the international call to stop the ongoing savagery by these destructive regimes, chiefly the USA and Britain and the tyrants at the helm of this imperialist strategy.”
Brian concluded, “Educate, organise and mobilise wherever and whenever you can in opposition to any manifestations of the neo-conservative agenda, at home and abroad.”
