Dublin Government Spends Millions Buying Drones From Apartheid Israel
It has been revealed that over the course of a decade the Dublin Government have spent almost €9 million euro buying drones and other military equipment from Apartheid Israel. The military equipment purchased includes unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), advanced targeting equipment, ground radar systems and communication systems.
Around €4.5 million euro was spent on purchasing military equipment from Aeronautics Defence Industries, a company who supply drones to assist the Israeli war machine in their assault on the men, women and children of Gaza - drones which have so far claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians.
Aeronautics Defence Industries is an arm of the government of the Apartheid state of Israel through its parent company, Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.
More equipment was purchased from the notorious Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems, a company which has been the target of BDS activists in England due to their manufacture of drones and explosives (including prohibited cluster bombs) which have been used to murder and maim tens of thousands of Palestinians.
Though around €8.5 million euro is the reported sum spent by the Dublin Government on this military equipment, the real figure is likely to be significantly higher due to a number of restrictions placed on the data recently released by the Department of Defence.
The data released only details payments of €20,000 or above, with amounts smaller than this not being declared. Added to this, information on payments categorised as ‘classified’ for security purposes were not released.
The Dublin Government must immediately cut all links with the Apartheid state of Israel!
They must withdraw the IDA from Israel, they must end Garda cooperation with Israeli ‘security’ forces, they must expel the Israeli ambassador and embassy, they must impose economic, cultural, sporting and political sanctions against the Apartheid state of Israel. These are the sort of measures that were taken against Apartheid South Africa and they helped bring about an end to that despicable regime.
For our part, we in Éirígí will continue to stand with the Palestinian people as we have done for the last eighteen years. As internationalists we recognise that their struggle against US-backed Israeli aggression is at one with our own struggle against British aggression in this country. Occupation no more!
